WEST AFRICA INVESTMENT FORUM
Organization of WAIF 2014: Under the “Invest in UEMOA” theme initiated & hosted by, The GFCL, in collaboration with UEMOA, its 08 member states, and BOAD, organized an international conference “West Africa Investment Forum” on September 09, 2014, wherein various Infrastructure development projects were presented and most of the projects were taken up by global Investors/Developers for further consideration and development. The International Conference was attended by a number of Multinational Corporates, Project Investors/Developers, in addition to the eight Heads of Countries of the UEMOA member countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Senegal & Togo) and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai & Prime Minister of the UAE along with respected Cabinet members and others high profile individuals & businessmen.
INVESTMENTS SECURED FOR OVER US$ 18 billion: The conference included the signing ceremony for the projects taken up by investors/developers. Out of the total 17 projects (US$ 21 billion) presented, 14 (US$ 18 billion) were signed during the conference. (Signing ceremony was carried out, for each project, amongst (i) Ministry of Economy & Finance (on behalf of the Govt.), (ii) President UEMOA Commission, (iii) Chairman, BOAD, (iv) Investor/developer, and (v) The GFCL as financial advisor to the Project)
